KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.33 g, 6 h), Magnesia ad Maeandrum, struck under Lysimachos, circa 301/0-300/299. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔP[OY] Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, head of a lion right above E; below throne, monogram of AP. Hersh, Additions 47. Price 1993 var. (lion's head left). A rare variety. Struck from a somewhat worn reverse die, otherwise, very fine.
