KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 4.18 g, 12 h), Sardes, struck under Menander, circa 324/3. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress; to left, monogram. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; below throne, rose. Arena, NC 163 (2003), 19.
