KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.31 g, 12 h), Sardes, struck under Menander or Kleitos, circa 322-319/8. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔP[OY] Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, torch; below throne, A. Price 2637. Minor marks on the obverse and with faint cleaning scratches on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
