KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.15 g, 4 h), Tarsos, struck under Philotas or Philoxenos, 323-317. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣΙΛΕΩΣ AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, Nike standing right, presenting wreath; below throne, monogram. Price 3038. Minor marks and with a banker's mark and a graffito on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
