KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.19 g, 3 h), Babylon, struck under Stamenes or Archon, circa 325-323. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, grape bunch; below throne, monogram; in exergue, M. Price 3642. Well struck in high relief. Two light scratches on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
