KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 17.17 g, 7 h), Babylon, struck under Stamenes or Archon, circa 324/3. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒAΣIΛEΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, kylix above M; below throne, monogram. Price 3687. Boldly struck in high relief, a beautiful coin. Minor marks, otherwise, about extremely fine.
