THESSALY. Larissa. Circa 460-440 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 15 mm, 3.00 g, 5 h). Hero, nude and with petasos and chlamys flying behind his back, running left and holding a band with both his hands passing around the head of a bull's forepart to left; below, TO. Rev. Λ-Α-Ρ-Ι Forepart of a bridled horse to left; below, Jason's sandal left; all within incuse square. BCD Thessaly I -. BCD Thessaly II 178. HGC 4, 459. Rare and unusually attractive, with a vigorous obverse. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die and with very minor porosity, otherwise, about extremely fine.
