THESSALY, Thessalian League. second half 2nd century BC. Stater (Silver, 23 mm, 6.24 g, 6 h), Metrodoros and Pis..., magistrates. ΜΗΤΡΟΔΩΡΟΥ Head of Zeus to right, wearing oak wreath. Rev. ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩN - Π-ΙΣ Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear with her right hand and holding shield on her left arm. BCD Thessaly II 856.5. HGC 4, 208. A lovely coin with a beautiful head of Zeus. Minor flan fault on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
