THESSALY, Thessalian League. Mid-late 2nd century BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 6.31 g, 9 h), Poli..., magistrate. Head of Zeus to right, wearing oak wreath. Rev. ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩN - ΠΟ/ΛΙ Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear with her right hand and holding shield on her left arm. BCD Thessaly II 813. HGC 4, 208. A bright example with a head of Zeus of particularly fine style. Minor die breaks on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
