THESSALY, Larissa. Circa 400-370 BC. AR Drachm (20.5mm, 6.04 g, 3h). Head of the nymph Larissa facing slightly left, hair in ampyx / Horse standing left, preparing to lie down. L-S Group 7, Head Type 30, dies O139/R1; BCD Thessaly II 271 (same dies); HGC 4, –. Lightly toned, some die wear, graffito on reverse. Good VF. Rare issue from the last group of the early facing head coinage, which likely served as a prototype for the massive later facing head coinage.
