This peculiar issue is often found restruck with two intricate "countermarks." These "countermarks" were ring-shaped punches that surrounded the obverse and reverse designs and carried legends. While the obverse "countermark-legend" is the same as that which appeared on the original striking, the reverse legend has been replaced by a new "countermark-legend."
