FRANCE, Royal. Louis XV le Bien-Aimé (the Well-Beloved). 1715–1774. AR Medal (37mm, 23.10 g, 12h). Agricultural Prize Medal/Marriage to Marie of Poland. Obverse by Dupré. Dated 1747, though struck late 18th-early 19th centuries. AU CULTIVATEUR LABORIEUX, farmer standing right, resting hand on plow and being crowned by personification of Lyon standing left, resting hand on shield; figures harvesting wheat and fruits in background / COMMUNE PERENNITATIS, Prudence and Hymneneus standing around lighted altar; above, Cupid flying right, holding coat-of-arms; in exergue, SECUNDÆ DELPHINI NUPTI/ M DCC XLVII. Toned, edge bumps. Good VF. An interesting piece.
This medal combines an obverse by Dupré with a reverse from a marriage medal of Louis XV. It was apparently in use for decades, as an example is found engraved "6 Floreal 1802/ L'AN X."
