BYZANTINE. Bronze enkolpion (reliquary cross). 10th-12th centuries. (5.6cm wide x 10.7cm high). Cruciform Christ Pantokrator facing, flanked by small facing figures; sun and crescent moon above / Cruciform Theotokos facing, flanked by small facing figures; cross above. The two pieces hinged together, surmounted by suspension loop. Hollow reliquary case with nothing inside except earthen deposits. Rather crude images. Green patina, missing the pin at the bottom to attach the two halves. Otherwise intact.
