Joseph Napoleon "De Vellon" 20 Reales 1810 M-AI MS65 NGC, Madrid mint, KM551.2, Dav-308. Cal-37. Large eagle variety. One of the best-preserved examples of the entire "De Vellon" 20 Reales series and wholly deserving of this seldom-seen Gem Mint State designation, with a total of 4 reaching this acclaimed status across all dates. A beautifully styled bust of Joseph Napoleon presents a champagne-toned surface peppered in silhouettes of soft cerulean, cornflower-blue, and lavender. The reverse, largely absent of the usual striking weakness and devoid of imperfection, is even more resplendent with mottled iridescence to the recesses of the outer registers, lending heavily to the coin's superior aesthetic caliber. Certainly one of, if not the finest, "De Vellon" 20 Reales to exist.
