Isabel II silver Uniface Obverse Trial Strike 20 Reales 185_ (1855) MS65 NGC, Paris mint, KM-Unl., cf. Cal-pg. 513 (prev. pg. 772), cf. O'Connor-pg. 192 (R7). By Fernández Pescador. A scarce obverse trial strike of an unadopted Pattern 20 Reales with the unfinished date 185x. Lustrous and reflective, with a hint of patina overlying the fields. A unique opportunity, highly collectible so well preserved. We note the existence of an obverse trial with the complete date 1855 and struck from the same die (Hess Divo Auction 308, October 2007, Lot 615), allowing us to assign the same date as probable for this offering. O'Connor assigns these Patterns a rarity rating of R7, indicating fewer than 10 examples known, though this rating appears to be independent of the die trials known for the different issues, suggesting that the present offering is almost certainly rarer still.
