Mexico
Philip V gold 2 Escudos 1741/31 Mo-MF XF45 NGC, Mexico City mint, cf. KM124 (overdate unlisted), Cal-1907 (same). A type almost universally encountered well-circulated and in lower technical grades, with the single finest in the NGC census being an AU55+ (the Rudman example). The present specimen in particular contains a noticeably strong visual allure even for its flat strike, mainly due to darkened charcoal tones around the legends and devices.
Ex. Eliasberg Collection (American Numismatic Rarities April 2005, Lot 3106); John H. Clapp Estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr. (1942)
