Philip V gold 8 Escudos 1744 Mo-MF MS61 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM148, Cal-2249, Onza-442 (Rare). Gratifying, to say the least, this date is often found with evidence of cleaning, leaving straight-graded Mint State specimens few and far between--a fact verified by the reality that both the Gerber and Eliasberg pieces suffered from cleaning damage. One of only ten total pieces at NGC for the date to have been awarded this conditional tier. Hardly a trace of weakness is detected throughout the raised features, while the fields contain light marks that are in-line designation, revealing a shimmering finish when viewed at an angle, and lacking any evidence of adjustment. Incredibly, this is only the second opportunity we have had to offer a fully uncirculated representative, and we know this will undoubtedly be a rare occasion for the condition-minded collector.
