Charles III gold 8 Escudos 1760 Mo-MM AU55 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM153, Cal-1977, Onza-740 (Very Rare). A laudable and comparatively "choice" survivor for this short-lived, two-year type that inaugurated Charles III's 8 Escudos coinage at Mexico City, particularly when given that the majority of this series survives in the XF level or lower. Indeed, to date, NGC has only certified a single AU58 finer, with none yet seen by PCGS. Though lightly bag-marked, notes of cartwheel luster can still be observed in the peripheral registers on both sides, an especially glassy shimmer hugging the raised elements of the reverse motifs. Frequently missing from even many advanced collections, we would note that this offering bests the Eliasberg specimen by a full two grade points, while the Rudman piece was a mere AU Details.
