Charles III gold 8 Escudos 1779 LM-MJ AU58 NGC, Lima mint, KM82.1, Cal-1940, Onza-703. A laudable survivor of this lesser-seen date, particularly when found so nearly bordering on Mint State condition. Though held short from that designation owing to the presence of just minor friction to the higher points of the design, we would note that this specimen far outranks that in the Eliasberg Collection--a mere VF30--and that this is the first representative of the date we have seen in over 3 years.
