Spain
Philip II (1556-1598) gold Cob 2 Escudos ND (1566-1576)-M MS62 NGC, Toledo mint, Cal-861, Cay-Type 72 (this subtype not noted), Oro Macuquino-58. 6.72gm. Type without mint letter. By all indications, a rare subtype for Philip's Toledo 2 Escudos coinage, seemingly unrecorded by Cayón and previously unlisted by Calicó until the publishing of the 2019 edition of Numismática Española. Additionally, this is only the second example we have handled (the last being a VF35). Despite obscuring in the margins, collectors could hardly ask for better centering of the struck detail, the reverse in particular showcasing an especially carefully crafted cross.
