Diocletian (AD 284-305). AV aureus (20mm, 6.51 gm, 1h). NGC Choice AU 5/5 - 5/5. Cyzicus, 1/50 of the Roman pound standard, AD 284-286. DIOCLETIANVS-AVGVSTVS, laureate head of Diocletian right / IOVI CO-NSERV-ATORI AVG, Jupiter standing facing, nude but for chlamys on left shoulder, head left, thunderbolt in outstretched right hand, grounded scepter in left; eagle at feet standing left, head reverted, wreath in beak. RIC V.II 298 (Cyzicus) & 318 (Antioch). Calicó 4514. Excellent centering on frosty surfaces.
