Charles X gold Proof 20 Francs 1830-A PR66 Cameo NGC, Paris mint, KM726.1, Gad-1029a. Raised lettered edge. A highly challenging Proof issue, which, though recognized by Gadoury, seems to have not been made publicly available for the past many years in the numismatic marketplace. This pleasingly frosted gem, the sole certified representative at NGC, shatters any reasonable expectation of quality for the issue. While collectors may be pleased to encounter any representative of the issue, to locate such a pristine gem is an unquestionable feat. The graciously frosted features contrast alluringly against mirrored golden fields, while both the devices and open expanses alike display remarkable preservation, as well as a lack of any significant handling. We note the existence of a single example in PCGS's census, a PR65 (though non-cameo), yet it remains highly doubtful that a finer representative than this will be located for the foreseeable future.
