Philip V 8 Reales 1729 (Aqueduct)-F MS66 NGC, Segovia mint, KM336.1, Cal-1598, Cay-9320. A wonder coin through-and-through, and a piece which could hardly be conceived in this condition if not for the extremely advanced minting technology available at Segovia during this period. Executed with a razor-sharp precision and not the least bit of camber to the planchet, the fields over both sides are awash in glossy mint luster, a quick tip from end-to-end letting loose waves lilac, cerulean, and peach tone. Ranking head-and-shoulders above the competition as the single finest yet seen by either NGC or PCGS, the next-highest graded we have seen ranked two points lower at MS64 and realized $8,225 in our September 2013 Long Beach sale. Not a date present in either the D. Moore or Cape Coral collections, and a connoisseur's coin through-and-through.
