PTOLEMAIC EGYPT. Ptolemy II Philadelphus (285/4-246 BC). AR stater or tetradrachm (27mm, 14.08 gm, 12h). NGC AU★ 5/5 - 5/5. Alexandria, ca. 282 BC. Diademed head of Ptolemy I right, aegis tied around neck; dotted border / ΠTOΛEMAIOY-BAΣIΛEΩΣ, eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt; ΣΩ monogram to left, dotted border. CPE 277. Svoronos 548 (Cyprus). Strongly struck from excellent style dies. Hints of lovely rainbow toning. Very attractive coin in hand.
