PTOLEMAIC EGYPT. Ptolemy II Philadelphus (285/4-246 BC). AR tetradrachm or stater (28mm, 14.18 gm, 11h). NGC AU★ 5/5 - 5/5. Alexandria, probably 275/4-ca. 272 BC. Diademed bust of Ptolemy I right, aegis tied around neck; dotted border / ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ-ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ, eagle standing left on thunderbolt, monogram above Gallic shield in left field, HΔ monogram in right field. CPE 306. Svoronos 555. A beautiful example - well struck on a broad flan, with lovely iridescent toning.
