Franz Joseph I Proof 5 Corona 1909 PR63 PCGS, Vienna mint, cf. KM2813 (unlisted in Proof), Dav-37, Herinek-772. Large head variety. An appreciable and scarce Proof offering encountered quite infrequently, if ever, with a majority of Proof issues seen on the market from this vintage being of the 100 Corona variety. NGC notes having certified no Proof strikes while PCGS states just a single piece, the present example. The appearances are undeniably Proof, and special attention has been paid to these dies. Exceptionally reflective and blanketed by a champagne tone transitioning towards russet at the outer registers, the reverse veiled in a mottled iridescence lending to its exceptional eye appeal.
