Société Générale Métallurgique de Hoboken gold Bar of 3.2 Ounces 1959 UNC, 27x63mm. 100.15gm. Congor type. Stamped SOCIÉTÉ GÉNÉRALE / MÉTALLURGIQUE / DE HOBOKE[N] / 1959 / No 2684 / TITRE 999,7 / 100.2 GR / CONGOR, in eight lines, with round F.D.L. stamp to right. An eye-catching piece produced by the Belgian company Société Générale Métallurgique de Hoboken, founded in 1909 as a subsidiary of the Union minière du Haut Katanga in order to process the raw metals mined in Belgian Congo, Katanga, and Rhodesia. Interestingly, 1959 was the final year that saw production for this bar type.
