Louis XIV Ecu 1709-D MS64 NGC, Lyon mint, KM386.4, Dav-1324. Despite having offered the only other MS64 in NGC's census at the beginning of the year, the current specimen expresses a superior aesthetic caliber by leaps and bounds. Displaying not a hint of weakness to the boldly embossed motifs, the obverse is veiled in a most attractive mottled lilac patina while the reverse, dripping in satiny sheen, is punctuated by an airy, champagne undercurrent. Surely one of the finest looking Ecus we've handled from the reign of Louis XIV.
