Louis XV gold Louis d'Or Mirliton 1725-D MS64 NGC, Lyon mint, cf. KM470.5 (unlisted date), Fr-459, Gad-339 (R2). A wonderful offering that remains extraordinarily well-preserved, featuring the occasional light mark or wisp on an otherwise satiny, gold planchet. The young portrait of Louis XV and reverse raised designs are well-struck, yielding only to adjustment marks made apparent by substantial mint luster. A wonderful date/mint combination rarely encountered, and with a single finer MS65 recognized by NGC, you'd be hard-pressed to acquire anything remotely similar in quality and eye appeal.
