German Colony. Wilhelm II gold 15 Rupien 1916-T MS63 NGC, Tabora mint, KM16.2, J-728a. Arabesque below the A in "OSTAFRIKA" variety. A survivor and covetable in most grades, especially so Choice Mint State and finer. The granular nature of the surfaces typically prevents resounding luster bearing any similarity to other gold issues, yet this example differs as prominent mint brilliance glistens across the mountainous backdrop and pervades the watery fields of the reverse. A joy to handle this relatively primitive emission in this high a state of preservation.
