Great Britain
William I, the Conqueror (1066-1087) Penny ND (c. 1083-1086) MS64 NGC, Gloucester mint, Silac as moneyer, Paxs type, S-1257, N-849. 1.38gm. +ǷILLEM REX (MR ligate), crowned and diademed bust of William facing, scepter in right hand held to left shoulder / +SILIIC ON GLǷEC, cross pattee with annulet containing one letter of PAXS in each angle. Seemingly a more fleeting mint for the issue--with only 4 other examples in sales archives of recent years--and certainly a most elusive conditional state for this coinage, just a single piece at NGC ranking a point finer.
