Edward III (1327-1377) gold 1/4 Noble ND (1361) AU58 NGC, Tower mint, Transitional Treaty Period, S-1501, N-1224, Schneider-74. 1.91gm. +ЄDWΛRD: DЄI: GRΛ: RЄX: ΛnGL' D (double saltire stops), royal shield within polylobe / +ЄXΛLTΛBITVR: IN: GLORIΛ (double saltire stops), cross fleuree with pellet at center and in angles, all within polylobe with lions and lis in arches and pellets in spandrels. A scarcer sub-emission for Edward III's 1/4 Nobles, and one which in all regards stands on the very cusp of Mint State--thick die polish cloaks the fields amidst flashes of an antique luster. Only the third example of this Transitional Treaty Period issue we have presented, and wholly desirable as such.
