Henry VI (1st Reign, 1422-1461) gold Noble ND (1422-1430) MS61 NGC, Tower mint, Lis mm, Annulet issue, S-1799, N-1414, Schneider-275 var. (no pellet after h). 6.97gm. h | ЄnRIC' (lis) DI' • GRΛ' • RЄX • ΛnGL' • Z (retrograde) • FRΛnC' • Dn'S • hyB' (trefoil stops), Henry, crowned, standing facing in ship, sword in right hand, shield in left, annulet at elbow / (lis) Ih'C ★ ΛVT' • TRΛnSIЄnS • PЄR • mЄDIVm • ILLORV' • IBΛT (annulet stops), large floriate cross with h at center, crowned lions in angles, all within polylobe with trefoils in spandrels and annulet in spandrel to right of 12 o'clock. A far "cleaner" strike for the issue than one could typically expect to locate both for the type and the grade, suggesting that the assigned certification may be a bit conservative. Indeed, few serious signs of contact can be discerned, the devices all remarkably clear and expressive, while a patch of die polish lines clusters around the center of the reverse design. Even admitting a slightly muted luster, it is fair to saw that few of Henry VI's Nobles come with greater eye appeal.
