Great Britain
Charles II 1/2 Crown 1663 MS62 NGC, KM419, ESC-439 (prev. ESC-457). Six harp strings. Compelling for its type and produced with such clarity and sharpness, despite the granular appearances of Charles's bust seemingly from abundant die rust. Regardless of this fact, lovely pewter surfaces enlivened by the presence of a champagne undercurrent abound, tinged with eye-appealing cerulean silhouettes. Generally encountered in lesser conditions and rarely seen certified above XF, the current example is tied with just a single other at PCGS and should inspire bidding consistent with that fact.
