Republic Counterstamped 8 Reales ND (1839) VF Details (Holed) NGC, KM96.1. C/S (XF Standard). Type II countermark on Bolivia 8 Reales dated 1677-PE. A pleasing cabinet-toned representative of this scarce type, the undertype of which is designated as Rare by the Standard Catalog of World Coins. Doubled in areas throughout, with a clear date and mint name (POTOSI). As many other survivors, holed to the periphery, in this case squarely in the middle of the "O" in CAROLVS.
