Floris I Denarius ND (1049-1061) MS63 NGC, Leiden mint, Ilisch-12.7-8, Dannenberg-1545. 0.69gm. +VIIVCPHVAI •, Floris standing facing, lance with small pennant in right hand, cross-tipped scepter in left / +VHCAVENPV, bearded portrait of saint or Christ facing, flanked by A-ω. An incredibly handsome and virtually tone-free example of this already elusive type which rises to a supreme rarity in this state of preservation. The type itself closes follows the Utrecht issues of Wilhelm von Ponte (1054-1076), this issue distinguished primarily on the basis of the lance with pennants in his right hand instead of an episcopal staff.
