Alexander I silver Pattern Dinar 1892 AU50 NGC, KM-Pn12, Mandić-R13, Viščević-S17 (R). By Jean Lagrange. A commendable offering reminiscent of contemporary Continental issues and engraved by esteemed Parisian Jean Lagrange, signed just under the young bust of Alexander I. A curious Pattern seemingly absent from major collections having been offered at auction through recent decades, and likely produced in anticipation of the young King assuming royal authority, which occurred the following year at the age of 16. Pale argent surfaces decorated with gentle wear and wisps populate this piece, while the reverse appears more Prooflike in nature. A covetable encounter and a joy to see, with Viščević assigning it the highest rarity, and leaving it unpriced in his catalog.
