CANADA-NEWFOUNDLAND. Government of Newfoundland. 1 Dollar, 1920. P-12d. PMG Extremely Fine 40.
The Newfoundland Treasury Notes of 1920 were issued to deal with a shortage of silver coin (precipitated, as with Charlton notes, by the withdrawal of the cash notes) at a time when the price of silver was very high on world markets. By 1939, about 99% of the total amount of these notes printed had been redeemed and destroyed. On this example PMG mentions Previously Mounted, Annotations.
