SPANISH COLONIAL. Gold Disc Recovered from the Nuestra Senora de la Luz (sank July 2, 1752).
Maximum Diameter: 70 mm. Weight: 693.61 gms. Inscribed "XIV", "oR.A" within square indent and three stars in a triangular formation on the face; Reverse: Inscribed "AV" monogram. According to the original auction description this interesting bar was inspected by the Assay Office, Goldsmiths' Hall, London with a purity of 0.975 fine. Another recovered gold ingot that is different from the other bar in this sale with several interesting and distinct characteristics and minor remnants of barnacles and other encrustation in the crevasses.
