MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Alexander III (the Great), 336-323 B.C. AV 1/4 Stater (2.12 gms), Uncertain Mint. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 3/5.
Pr-Unlisted. Obverse: Helmeted head of Athena right; Reverse: Nike standing left, holding wreath and stylis. A VERY RARE fractional gold issue, these 1/4 Staters are far more difficult to encounter than their larger counterparts. Adding to the allure is the fact that this specimen remains entirely problem free and is unpublished without a control and the split name upon on the reverse.
