MYSIA. Kyzikos. EL Stater (16.09 gms), ca. 550-450 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 3/5. Fine Style. Light Marks.
Nomisma-VII, 123; Boston MFA-1457; SNG BN-271. Obverse: Winged male mythological creature running-kneeling left, head right, holding tunny by its tail; Reverse: Quadripartite incuse square. Struck on an extremely compact, thick flan, this example exhibits a pale golden hue with solid overall centering. A few light rough spots and marks are noted, but not at all distracting. A rather RARE and enticing design.
