MYSIA. Kyzikos. EL Stater (16.06 gms), ca. 450-330 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 3/5 Surface: 4/5.
Nomisma-VII, 148; Boston MFA-1515; SNG BN-297. Obverse: Helios kneeling slightly right on tunny right, holding bridles of two horse foreparts behind facing outward; Reverse: Quadripartite incuse square. A VERY RARE and interesting motif, this type is incredibly difficult to encounter in the larger denomination as here. Pleasing and wholesome, and struck on a very thick and somewhat compact flan.
From the Collection of a Gentleman.
