LEBANON. 5 Piastres, 1954. PCGS MS-66 Gold Shield.
KM-18. Frosty white, cartwheel luster. The reverse is signed by engraver H. HAGE in the die, and the 1974 Granvyl Hulse monograph on Modern Lebanese Coinage reports this issue as struck at a "private Lebanese Mint." A fascinating local production in a sea of Paris Mint issues. Tied with 8 others in the PCGS population report with only 2 finer.
The Cedars Collection of Lebanese Coinage, 1924-1961.
Estimate: $60 - $100
