Countermark applied to the obverse of a 1828-Mo JM Mexico republic 8 Reales; Die style of 1824-47, normal date variety. A VERY RARE early date from this mint. We have only the present example documented. The countermark is deep and boldly applied with clear definition of the fine details on decent looking host. The reverse shows evidence of past severe mistreatment with many directional scratches bordering on tooling. A presentable example of the date.
