Obverse: Miner, wielding pickaxe overhead, at work within a mine illuminated by a gas light; Reverse: View of mine number 8; in exergue, implements of mining interspersed with laurel and oak branches. Edge: [cornucopia] BRONZE. Quite deeply toned, with some hints of iridescence and a few spots of underlying brilliance.
