OCTAVIAN & JULIUS CAESAR. Fourree Denarius (2.88 gms), Imitation of military mint traveling with Agrippa in Gaul or Octavian in Italy, 38 B.C. or later. VERY GOOD.
cf. Cr-534/2 (for prototype); cf. CRI 306 (same); cf. Syd-1330 (same). Obverse: Wreathed head of the deified Julius Caesar right and bare head of Octavian facing one another; Reverse: M AGRIPPA COS / DESIG in two lines. Some scattered marks and areas of the core are visible, but this is nevertheless an interesting and desirable contemporary imitation of a rather RARE issue.
From the Robert Feuer Collection.
Estimate: $150 - $300
