PERSIA, Achaemenid Empire. temp. Xerxes I to Darios II. Circa 485-420 BC. Fourrée Siglos (14.5mm, 4.34 g). Copying Sardes mint issue. Persian king or hero, wearing kidaris and kandys, quiver over shoulder, in kneeling-running stance right, holding spear and bow / Incuse punch. For prototype: cf. Carradice Type IIIb A/B (pl. XII); cf. Meadows, Administration 322; cf. BMC Arabia pl. XXV, 17. Toned, areas of find patina, plating broken in spots, struck with worn obverse die. Fine.
