SASANIAN KINGS. Shapur II (309-379 AD). Silver hemiobol (0.36 gm; 9 mm). Shapur's bust with a variation of his standard crown turning right, crown design seems to represent Antler's horns, symbol of caduceus and a crescent moon below it in front of face, reverse, fire altar with attendants, figure in the fire altar turning left. Extremely rare symbol and crown rendition, for a similar crown rendition see bust of Sasanian king in bronze in Louvre Museum. There are also extremely rare examples of AE pashiz and obols of Yazdgird I with antler crown issued by Hephtalites as well. Sunrise 853var(different monogram). Choice EF / VF. Lightly toned.
