ITALY, Papal (Papal State). Julius III. 1550-1555. Æ Medal (27mm, 7.97 g, 12h). Probably by Giangiacomo Bonzagni. Struck circa 1550. IVLIVS III PONT MAX, bust right, wearing tonsure and mantum; triple hilled stops / HILARITAS (star) PVBLICA, Hilaritas standing facing, holding palm frond set on rocks and cornucopia, flowers on ground to right. CNORP II 420. Iridescent brown surfaces, hairline die breaks on reverse, edge bevelled. EF.
