Antiquities from Various Properties

Medieval, a 12th cent. gilt brass Limoges mount of a Saint, 60mm high by 26mm wide, head and body of a draped male figure with a moulded solid head, long nose and circular blue glass eyes, long neck with a rectangular hollowed out body which is perforated centrally at the top and bottom, recessed longitudinal cells contain champleve enamel, rounded shoulders contain white enamel while the rest of the body has blue cells, in the centre the left hand is clasping the right which is pointing towards the heart. Very fine with 90% of the enamelling intact £200-£260

Found in the UK these mounts were originally attached to reliquary caskets or an altar cross and were likely removed and then buried to gain a blessing
